Who is David DeMarco?

I am a 10-time Emmy® nominated and 3-time Emmy® Award-Winning Video Editor.

So, I’m from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I was born in Philly, but I grew up in the New Jersey suburban town of Woodbury Heights. I moved back to PA in 1996 and I currently live just outside of Philly in Newtown Square. I grew up in a fantastic family atmosphere, with 3 siblings and great parents, in an average, but no so typical, Italian family, complete with the big family get-togethers, the traditional, Christmas Eve, seven-fish meal, and vacationing down at the Jersey shore.

The reason I created this blog is because of my desire to share my vast video marketing expertise to newbie entrepreneurs and share with them simple ways to creating emotionally engaging, thought provoking videos that moves prospects into action without the huge “Hollywood” budget. After working in the Broadcast Television industry for over 20 years and helping to create many Emmy® award-winning shows, promotions and productions, I realized that all I have really been doing is creating extremely effective video marketing. My desire is to enable newbie entrepreneurs to tap into: my 20+ years of video marketing experience, my unique story-telling ability, my behind-the-lens camera shooting techniques and my seductive, Emmy®-winning, video editing skills that create emotional responses from prospects and moves them to action. But before I get into all of that… let me just tell you a little bit more about myself.

I have always had a passion for entrepreneurship as well as being passionate about meeting people and traveling.  Early on, I new I wanted to be wealthy, but I didn’t want to be like my dad and work 9 to 5 for sixty years of my life. I despise the cold, corporate ideology of trading my time for money at some company. Now, I love being around and meeting people and learning about them as well as from them. You can learn so much from so many different people. It’s the best education you can get in so many areas of life. And as an entrepreneur, I’ve come to learn that the people you met and who are in your life are your best assets because when you learn from them and about them, you begin to understand your potential customers, who are, by the way, people! How does that work? Well, when you understand people’s desires and fears, then you’ll know how to connect with them and provide them with a solution to whatever their dilemma may be. So, it’s our quality relationships that are the key to having a fulfilled life and a successful business.

Another passion of mine has been video. I got hooked on video during my freshman year in high school. I met this kid who had converted his garage into a TV studio and had a video camera, videocassette recorder and editing equipment. He turned me on to video.  From there I majored in video in college, then after graduating set out to make a ton of money making videos.

Well, that wasn’t what exactly happened. I wound up freelancing for several years, taking many different gigs in the Philadelphia area. I thought about moving to LA or New York, but I had no money to make such a move and I didn’t want to live too far away from my family. I eventually got a consistent gig at the local cable company’s local access channel, and there I cut my teeth. I was able to try all the different areas of video production, from switching and directing to shooting and editing. I eventually settle on shooting and editing, and these were the days where we edited on physical tape.

I became involved with the Philadelphia Chapter of the International Television Association (ITVA, now called Media Communications Association, International – MCA-I), which helped me get a lot of really cool gigs, like covering the millennium (year 2000) celebration in Philadelphia for ABC and CNN. I became the Vice President of the Philly chapter and began conducting the monthly meetings and networking with a lot of the talented production people in the Philly area. It was through this networking that helped me get the full-time gig at Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia in February 2000.

Fast forward 11 years, 10 Emmy® nominations, 3 Emmy® Awards and 20 gazillion TV show and promo credits later, and you have the David DeMarco at present day, still at Comcast SportsNet (which is changing its name to NBC Sports, Philadelphia) as the senior Avid Editor. But not for much longer.

Now, I remember long ago I vowed that I would never work in a corporate job environment that I find myself in today. I remember when I took the position at CSN, I told myself that I was only doing it so I can work on an Avid everyday and build my video editing skills and that I’ll leave in 2 years. When I heard that I had an opportunity to win an Emmy®, I decided to stay long enough to improve my skills so I can win one. Although that decision kept me in this undesirable corporate environment (which is what Broadcast TV is), it also made me really work on my craft of video editing. I won my first two Emmys® in one night in 2006. Boy, was that a thrilling night! The third one came two years later. Goal accomplish, big time! Now it’s time to move on.

All during this time, I was restless. I knew I had to make a change, especially after I had won my first two Emmys® back in 2006. Although that was thrilling, working 9 to 5 and having two much month left after the paycheck was not the way I wanted to live. At the end of the day, despite the Emmys®, what I really had was a J.O.B. and my edit suite felt like a jail cell.

I have to tell you that it sucks! Let me paint you a picture: I wake up to the most annoying alarm in the world. The person who made my alarm clock must really hate people to put that sound in there. And since I need to work out, this alarm goes off at 5AM! And if I didn’t get to sleep by 10 the night before, let me tell you, it’s not pretty. I drag myself out of bed, throw on my workout clothes, grab a water bottle, and then drive 15 minutes to the gym. After my workout, I fight traffic back to my house, shower, eat, get back in the car and sit in killer traffic until I get to the CSN studios. Many days I am visibly shaking because of the stressful 45-minute drive.  I wish I can tell you how the rest of the day is, but because this is live TV, everyday is different. It can be either excruciating slow, or I have 10 things that need to get done before I leave. Again, with live TV, you can’t leave untill you finish the video because it has to air in two hours (or less!). And since the studio is located in an arena, you have to fight for 30 minutes through the hoards of traffic coming into the arena area to see either that night’s game or concert, just to drive 50 feet to get to the interstate on-ramp! Once on the highway, more killer traffic and I get home after an hour on the road. Did I tell you that IT SUCKS!

Needless to say, since winning those first two Emmys®, I decided I was going to make a change in my life and from that time onward, I have dedicated many years and tireless hours doing just that. I’ve tried many different businesses and investments as well as real estate. I was re-introduced to network marketing and got involved with a great company, but wound up doing it the wrong way. You know, bugging (sometimes pleading with) your friends and family, cold calling, buying leads, and all the wrong things you not supposed to do. As I got more involved in network marketing as well as Internet marketing, I began to realize that I had no clue as to how to get people to join my MLM as well as market online effectively. I struggled for 10 months in my business. I had generated some leads, but not one joined my business. And the few “friends” who had join all quit within 90 days of joining. BTW, video marketing online at this point hadn’t really taken off yet, so I never considered that strategy while I was floundering.

However, my breakthrough came when I was introduced to one of my mentors, Mike Dillard, and the concept of Attraction Marketing. Using the You, Inc. model to attract quality prospects online to me by helping others and providing value in their life through my own personal brand was revolutionary to me to say the least. So, I learn how to create a moneymaking blog, how to use social media to build my brand, and how to generate FREE leads using the attraction-marketing model. Plus, I have invested so much into myself through personal development books and courses. (Some of my mentors include Jim Rohm, Zig Ziglar, Anthony Robbins, Robert Kiyosaki, Napoleon Hill, Dale Carnegie, Seth Godin, Michael S. Clouse, Mark Hoverson, Jonathan Budd, and Katie Freiling, to name a few.) The biggest takeaway I discovered through all this ‘training’ is this: successful entrepreneurs find a problem that most people struggle with, highlights it and then offers a solution. That is the secret to creating valuable content and attracting hoards of people to you business.

So, my leadership skills began growing exponentially. I began connecting with multi-million dollar earners and I’m partnering with industry leaders, like Ken Dunn, in a new network marketing company that is absolutely amazing. Plus I have discovered an incredible lead generation system that is producing leads daily. It’s revolutionizing my business and my team can duplicate it in a matter of days or hours. Also, I have read books, studied training and got on every live training that I could get on. And now these techniques, along with my video marketing skills, are paying off in incredible ways. I’m on track to becoming the top earning in my company. My business is growing, people are joining my MLM and I’m no longer clueless! It’s only a matter of time before I can go in and fire my boss for good.

The rest will be history!

So here’s the million-dollar question you need to ask yourself right now: How soon do you want to start making money with your business???

My niche on this blog is helping you with your video marketing and to create attention-grabbing videos that will make you money. Plus, I throw in some personal development, lead generation, and social media stuff and a few surprises. If you are ready to start making money, I can show you the way, but I need to be very clear on this. I only have time to work with motivated people. Most of the concepts and business ideas are simple, but they will require you to work at this, and in some cases work hard, but only for a short period of time. And with some things, it will take a lot of learning on your part. But the pay-off is absolutely worth it. So, if you’re with me, I can show you the way, but I can’t hold your hand through the whole journey. So what’s it going to be?
